Harrisonburg, VA (PRWEB) January 07, 2013
In response to industry demand and increased student need for transparency in higher education, startup company Approved Colleges has launched a new site aiming to compile and catalog data on every available online education institution and program. This site aims to provide students with the most comprehensive site available to compare online education opportunities.
This ambitious project has already received a first-round of funding totaling at $1,000,000. The company currently estimates that the initial selection of entries will include over 2,000 colleges, schools and training providers as well as nearly 12,000 programs currently available in the US. Schools will be able to contribute to the database to ensure students receive the most accurate information available and provide updated data for their entries.
The site (http://www.ApprovedColleges.com) will allow students to browse both schools and programs to explore important data points such as average tuition rates, accreditation and program lengths. The site will also allow students to compare multiple online schools or programs in a streamlined tool side-by-side. The tool will break out important facts and figures regarding any three programs or schools that a student may be interested in to provide the most honest look at how different institutions compare to each other.
In addition to providing a data resource, Approved Colleges is currently forming relationships with a number of colleges and institutions to service student inquiries for additional information or guidance. These relationships will allow Approved Colleges to work directly with institutions listed within the database to provide students with the most comprehensive information and allow them to make informed decisions about their future. As of January, Approved Colleges is already partnered with Penn Foster Career School.
In leveraging current relationships, Approved Colleges is expanding its reach into other industries by allowing businesses to customize their own online learning directory for employees utilizing tuition assistance programs. These industry partnerships will allow employers to provide their staff with information about quality training programs and continuing education opportunities as well as manage their tuition assistance programs with ease.
Twelve-year industry veteran Tony Huffman founded approved Colleges, in October of 2012. Previously a Senior Vice President at Education Dynamics, Mr. Huffman was responsible for creating the Client Relations team and spearheading products such as “Test Drive College” which aimed to provide qualified students with the opportunity to take a free college course before fully enrolling with a school.
