Due to BathroomWorld originally being quite an offline based business, marketing through direct mail catalogues and other strategies; the internet is still quite new to them. As such, they’re taking everything they can get and utilising some of the internet’s biggest platforms to build their presence.
Previously, BathroomWorld set up a blogger account on Google’s blogging platform to start their social media campaign. Now the marketing boys have stepped it up a notch and ventured into the world of Tumblr, another largely used blogging platform.
Tumblr has been around since 2007 and since then it has grown and grown in popularity amongst online bloggers. As a free blogging platform it has quickly become one of the favourites along with Wordpress, Blogger and Posterous.
BathroomWorld decided to launch another social media profile on the Tumblr platform simply because there are people out there who only use one type of blog. As such, they’d be missing out on followers and subscribers by limiting themselves to one platform. Therefore, people can now follow and check out the latest updates from BathroomWorld directly at their Tumblr page; http://bathroomworld.tumblr.com/
Anthony Langston, part of the Marketing team at BathroomWorld commented on the importance of a social presence: “In this day and age, everything important is online and if it isn’t, it certainly should be. We’ve been aware of how necessary an online presence is for many years and we’ve set about creating it for BathroomWorld in the best way possible. Social media is one of the highest and most recognised forms of marketing on the internet and it’s one of the simple, most efficient ways of getting a new brand or company out there to the masses. Whether someone bookmarks the homepage of the website or shares a social URL to a bathroom suite on the site, its social proof that other people think it’s a good source of information or products.”
The BathroomWorld is hosted on the ever-expanding Online Home Retail network at present. The network already hosts close to 50 niche-specific websites which sell a whole range of products, varying from Makita power tools all the way to garden shovels and foot pumps. Online Home Retail Limited was originally Plumbworld Ltd back in 1999 and since then it has been bought by the Grafton Group PLC in 2006 and received a brand overhaul during 2012. The business now employs close to 60 people in its purpose built warehouse and offices whilst turning over in excess of £20 million per year.
