Burr Ridge, IL (PRWEB) February 04, 2013
The Chicago Marriott Southwest at Burr Ridge has a full plate of activities planned for the early part of this year, tipping off with a charitable basketball event in March and culminating with a special brunch for Mother’s Day in May.
The Chicago area hotel will sponsor a Harlem Wizards charity basketball game at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Hinsdale South High School. A team made up of teachers, parents from Cass District 63 Foundation for Educational Excellence, students from Cass Junior High School and members of the Hinsdale South High School Athletic Club will go head to head with players from the professional entertainment basketball team. Advanced ticket prices are $10 for students and $12 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $12 for students and $14 for general admission. VIP tickets are available for $20 and include access to the 6 p.m. pregame meet-and-greet with Wizards players, an autograph photo for students and special reserved seating. All proceeds benefit students at Cass District 63 and Hinsdale South High.
The Harlem Wizards, now in their 51st season, are 21 exceptional basketball players who have had college and professional careers before joining the comedic team. Players are known for their slick skills, trick hoops, smooth dribbling and crazy slams and are big fans of helping raise funds for schools and nonprofits throughout the United States. Fundraising potential is based on sponsorships and souvenir and ticket sales.
About 1,300 people are expected to hear a professional master of ceremonies call play-by-play action as the local team, calling itself Darien Mayhem, hoops it up with the Wizards. The night of theatrics surely will bring laughs and plenty of memorable moments.
The Burr Ridge, IL, hotel is proud to bring “One Slammin’ Show” to Hinsdale South High School at 7401 Clarendon Hills Road in Darien.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Cass District 63 Foundation for Educational Excellence for this exciting game and fundraiser,” said Mike Haddad, general manager of the Chicago Marriott Southwest at Burr Ridge. “This area is a very close-knit community, so whenever we have an opportunity to serve the local area in unique and creative ways, we are always eager to help. This is truly a win-win for everyone.”
The memories will continue even after the final buzzer. Besides supporting its community, the Burr Ridge hotel also plans to celebrate with and honor its neighbors at special brunches for Easter and Mother’s Day. Residents who attend either or both brunches and show their tickets from the basketball game will receive 15 percent off the total bill.
Chef Jonathan Welch has once again put together menus for Easter brunch in Chicago (March 31) and Mother’s Day (May 12) that will tempt the taste buds of adults and children alike at his Ciazza restaurant. Diners on each of these special days will be treated to a buffet featuring honey-baked ham, jumbo shrimp, poached salmon, chicken picatta, baked tilapia, salads, fresh fruits, eggs Benedict, breakfast pastries and decadent desserts. The buffet starts at $29.95 per adult and $14.95 for kids 4 to 12 years old. Children under 4 are free. Non-alcoholic beverages such as freshly squeezed orange juice, just-brewed coffee and tea and ice cold white, skim and chocolate milks are included.
The Burr Ridge Easter brunch would not be complete without bottomless mimosas, part of the special dining experience. A free gift on May 12 will honor moms of all ages.
Seating for each of these special brunches will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and reservations are highly encouraged. To inquire or book a table, call Steve Green at 1-630-568-7827 or email him at Steve(dot)Green(at)marriott(dot)com.
