Beginning this week, employees at Certified Payment Processing (CPP) will compete in a “battle of the bulge” to see who can lose the most weight. Participation is voluntary, but those who choose to join the contest will have bi-weekly weigh-ins. At the end of the eight-week period, two winners will be announced, one based on total number of pounds lost and another on best percentage of weight lost. Each winner will be awarded a prize. The contest runs through March 29.
“We have a great team, and they work hard,” says Helen Myers, Human Resources manager for CPP. “We want them to be as healthy as possible, so if this provides an incentive for them to shed some unwanted pounds, it’s worth the time and the costs to promote it. It’s completely voluntary, but because we are a sales-based organization, they’re very competitive. ”
Throughout the contest, the entire staff will receive periodic communications about good nutrition, healthy living, useful weight loss tips, exercise options and motivational messages. CPP provides discounts to local fitness centers as part of the benefit package and sends monthly emails to the employees, promoting good health habits.
