Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) February 06, 2013
Dr. Mark E. Silberg has been named as one of the region's top dentists in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. TopDentists, Inc. utilized a national database to compile information on dentists nationwide. Pittsburgh Magazine collected the names of dentists that have been chosen through an exhaustive survey in which thousands of dental professionals from across the nation confidentially evaluated their dental peers. Dr. Silberg has once again been honored by being chosen amongst the region’s top specialists.
With over 31 years of dental specialty practice, periodontist Mark E. Silberg DMD and the Silberg Center for Dental Science is considered to be one of the leading board certified periodontal specialists in the region. Throughout his entire career, he has devoted his energies to achieving excellence in all facets of periodontics. First and foremost, he is a devoted student and lifelong learner, investing over 100 hours of time out of the office every year, in courses and continuing education. This is how he is able to keep up-to-date with the rapidly changing medical technologies and treatments available today, so that he can provide his patients with leading edge technology. The driving force behind his accomplishments is to help people age with dignity and grace by having "Real Teeth for Life".
The specialty of periodontics has been evolving steadily over the past 25 years. With current technology, Dr. Silberg is able to use the PerioLase™ LASER, which has been specifically designed to treat periodontal (gum) diseases without the discomfort and side effects of traditional cut and stitch surgery. With LANAP®, teeth that were traditionally deemed as hopeless have a chance to heal and survive.
Dr. Silberg has been placing dental implants since 1985 and has placed over 4,000 implants with an overall success rate of 97%. He uses only those implant companies that do extensive research on their implants, since over 95% of all implant companies have no research, either short-term or long-term due to poor FDA regulations. Today’s implants can be put into use in as little as 6 to 9 weeks and in some cases can be used the same day. In many cases he allows patients to “Take Dental Implants for a Test Drive,™”, with a money back option.
The technology surrounding dental implants has exploded. Dr. Silberg has the most advanced imaging available with digital x-rays that reduce the exposure to radiation by 80% compared to traditional X-rays. After taking the x-ray, the image pops onto the computer screen in just 3 seconds. He also utilizes the latest in CAT Scan technology and has a Gendex 500 cone beam scanner in the office. Cone beam scans protect the patient by showing the true size and shape of the jaw to avoid complications and issues that are commonly associated with traditional images. The Gendex 500 also significantly reduces the amount of radiation exposure to the patient compared with medical CT scans.
Other quality of life technological enhancements Dr. Silberg uses include Platelet Rich Plasma to enhance healing, the use of frozen stem cells, laboratory synthesized bone growth factors to regrow lost bone, and computer-aided design for the location and placement of the dental implant prior to the implant surgery.
Dr. Silberg is the founder and director of The Discovery Study Club, a local branch of The Seattle Study Club. Currently, there are 35 member dentists that meet monthly for continuing education workshops, lectures, and seminars. Dr. Silberg has lectured on periodontics, implants, bone building, and how to build a values-based practice both locally and nationwide, and has co-authored a book titled "Valuocity: A Fable for Dentists". Dr. Silberg is proud of his many accomplishments in the field of periodontics, and is recognized as having the most trusted, respected, and admired periodontal and implant practice in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
