Friends Don’t Let Friends Give Mom a Bobble-Head for Mother’s Day—FiestaRoses.com Says There’s Still Time to Send Roses

Some creative types have proposed imaginative gifts like a lip-plumper, compost-maker or even a personalized bobble-head for Mother’s Day. The relationship specialists at FiestaRoses.com (http://www.FiestaRoses.com) suggest roses are a better choice—one that Mom will appreciate.

“The combination of very high elevation, perfect year-round climate and incredibly fertile volcanic soil make it the perfect place to grow large beautiful roses,” a spokesperson said.

If numbers from previous years hold true, about half of Americans will buy Mom a gift in the week before Mother’s Day, May 12. With that in mind, the relationship specialists at FiestaRoses.com (http://www.FiestaRoses.com) remind gift-givers that there’s still time to send flowers.

Of course, some creative individuals want to push the gift-giving envelope. For example, last year David Moye, the Huffington Post’s Weird News writer, did extensive research to come up with some “imaginative” gifts for Mother’s Day. Among the unusual items Moye touted: a suction-powered lip plumper, a waist-line stretcher for jeans, a remote control with a bottle opener, an in-house compost maker, a necklace with a stack of miniature scented pancakes, and a personalized bobble-head doll.

One wonders if the mother of Mother’s Day, Anna Jaravis, could have imagined any of those so-called gifts back in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day, describing it “as a public expression of love and reverence for the mothers of our country.”

Since that time, Mother’s Day has become the third most popular holiday in the world—and the second biggest gift-giving day, behind only Christmas.

Based a spending survey conducted by BIGinsight, the National Retail Federation projected that this year, “consumers will spend an average of $168.94 on Mom, up 11 percent from last year’s $152.52. Total spending is expected to reach $20.7 billion.” (http://www.nrf.com/modules.php?name=News&op=viewlive&sp_id=1567)

Of that total, statistics show that about $2.3 billion is likely to be spent on flowers.

The survey, which polled 4,912 consumers April 2-9, went on to state that, “Americans will buy Mother’s Day gifts for other women in their life, including their wife (23.6 percent), daughter (10.5 percent), grandmother (8.5 percent) and sister (8.2 percent). However, most will buy for their mother or stepmother (65.2 percent).”

Whether it’s for Mom, wife, daughter or grandma, FiestaRoses.com offers a variety of colorful choices, including Aqua, Blue, Emerald, Kiwi and Purple. Roses are also available in bi-colors, like Dreamsicle (orange-white), Fire (red-white), Ice (blue-white), Inspiration (purple-white), Lucky (green-white) and Sunshine (yellow-white).

The company can provide overnight delivery to anywhere in the continental United States. An additional Mother’s Day motivation: FiestaRoses.com is offering a 20-percent discount for consumers using the promo code: Mother
