The Word of God and faith are still very much relevant in the lives of the athletes who provide our society with the entertainment they enjoy so much from the game of football
ATLANTA (PRWEB) May 13, 2013
In the new memoir “Old-School Football and Faith: Played Out on the Flats” (published by CrossBooks), Frank Sexton gives readers a glimpse into his longtime commitment to baseball and football and how he was led to appreciate God’s work in his life.
Sexton excelled in baseball and football in high school, and he dreamed of playing football for the University of Tennessee. His dreams hit a snag when he withstood injuries that put his first choice out of reach. But he didn’t give up. Sexton dedicated himself to pursuing his dream, and he eventually received an offer to play for Bobby Dodd at Georgia Tech.
Weaving together inspiring passages from the Scriptures with accounts of the hard work demanded of football players in the era of limited substitution when athletes played both offense and defense, “Old-School Football and Faith” relates the highlights of Sexton’s playing days at Georgia Tech from 1959 to 1963 and of his journey to a deeper faith.
Sexton hopes that his story will encourage readers who are facing trials in their lives to persevere in order to accomplish their dreams. He wants his faith to serve as an example of how God can and will work in their lives. “The Word of God and faith are still very much relevant in the lives of the athletes who provide our society with the entertainment they enjoy so much from the game of football,” he says.
