Using group cohesiveness and support, Healthy Sisters Sorority brings women together online for successful long-term health changes

Most women are busy with their family, work and obligations but still find time to check their email and Facebook accounts. Drawing on those places where women are still able to listen and engage, Constructive Health created Healthy Sisters Sorority, a community that will guide women to make and maintain significant health changes.

Healthy Sisters Sorority is a community of women who are dedicated to their wellbeing and the health of their family. The women are either “Pledges,” women who are new to the program, or “Big Sisters,” women who have completed the pledge period and continue to receive support but also give support to the Pledges. The program is guided by Shana Kurz, the “House Mom” and a Certified Health Coach. She is also the founder of Constructive Health and Healthy Sisters Sorority.

Shana Kurz stated “I’ve guided group health programs in the past and felt there was a need for a step-by-step approach that intertwined fun, lasting support and ease of use. I’ve also seen women make beneficial changes but then they weren’t able to maintain those changes long-term because the support ended. Women love to come together and they want to make health a priority, so I created a forum where they can be happy and successful while maintaining their health goals long-term. Now women have a place to learn, ask questions and are provided infinite support from a nutritional expert and their peers.”

The year-long program begins with a 28-Day Healthy Pledge Period where the women gently breakdown and toss out their old (and possibly college-style) eating habits. They master the 90/10 food rule which is heavy on veggies, fruits and whole grains and light on processed foods, animal foods and common allergens. After the 28-Day Healthy Pledge Period, the women continue to receive support and coaching through email and Facebook and stay current by learning from guest experts and their House Mom.

Healthy Sisters Sorority enrollment begins December 3, 2012 and the program begins January 14, 2013. Participants can enroll at http://www.healthysisterssorority.com.
