This is also the first time the Whitewater Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held outside of the United States.

“We are very pleased to bring the International Whitewater Hall of Fame (IWHOF) Induction ceremony overseas for the first time in the nine year history of the organization. The roots of whitewater kayaking as a competitive sport began in Europe. Certainly many of the early pioneers in boat design came from Europe, including Eastern Europe, and continue today as major international brands.” says Rafael Gallo, an international member of the IWHOF Board of Governors, and 2009 IWHOF Inductee.

“We invite IWHOF alumni, the paddling community, and industry friends to the 2013 Induction Ceremony at PaddleExpo in Germany, to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2013 and the bright future of the whitewater paddling industry,” says Risa Shimoda, IWHOF Chairwoman and 2010 IWHOF Inductee.

The International Whitewater Hall of Fame is a program of the Paddlesports Industry Foundation whose mission is “to recognize and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to whitewater related activities.” IWHOF is endorsed by the International Canoe Federation and International Rafting Federation. Honorees are chosen through nominations submitted through IWHOF’s International Affiliate Organizations, a screening committee and a body of international electors. The 2013 Induction event is supported by PaddleExpo and Playak, among others. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available, contact IWHOF for more information. http://iwhof.org
