Well-known art gallery and custom conservation framing company World Wide Art, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of "Three Wise Men on a Boat" by artist James Christensen.

The painting, like many of Christensen’s works, presents a puzzling scene. Amid a dark, mountainous landscape, a boat is suspended in mid-air with interesting contents—three men clothed as magi and a camel. The three individuals and the camel face forward solemnly in the ornately decorated vessel.

"This painting by James Christensen really showcases this artist's majestic style and his ability to have a sense of mystery in every piece he paints," said David Wilfong, spokesperson for World-Wide-Art.com. "We are very pleased to carry this outstanding work of art in our collection."

Christensen is known for painting scenes that could belong in the realm of myths and fairy tales, but rather than just striving to create beautiful pieces of art, he hopes to incorporate a message into all of his work. Depending on the piece, this message can be a deep theme, a glimmer of inspiration or just a simple laugh. As a long-time art teacher, Christensen treats his work as his classroom, whether he's working with porcelain, print or a book.

With "Three Wise Men in a Boat," the viewer must scour the painting for clues to make sense of this bewildering scene. The men, and even the camel, are dressed in their finest clothes, clearly in the middle of something important. The three wise men seem to be on a mission, but it’s not clear who they are. The magical hovering vessel is adorned with gold as well as Moorish-inspired arches and lattice reminiscent of Middle Eastern art.

"'Three Wise Men on a Boat' leaves the viewer with more questions than answers," said Wilfong. "However, this is precisely what makes it such a compelling work. The trademark head-scratching style Christensen has mastered inspires deep introspection and reflection."

Christensen has garnered an impressive list of awards for his professional art that stand as a testament to his mastery of his craft. He has won every honor possible from the World Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention, and has also been recognized on multiple occasions at the Chesley Awards from the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists. He was inducted into U.S. Art magazine’s Hall of Fame, is designated as a “Utah Art Treasure,” and has been named one of Utah’s Top 100 Artists by the Springville Museum of Art
