Author Jean-Pierre Breton takes readers nearly 20 years into the future, to a world where civilization is threatened by an unforeseen alien invasion, in his new science fiction fantasy novel, “The Unexpected War: Life after Death” (published by iUniverse).
The year is 2032, and 13-year-old Lance Burns is having a quiet Sunday morning, packing his things after spending a rainy weekend in a cramped cave with his two sisters during a family camping trip. Just as they’re preparing to leave, meteor-like balls of fire begin crashing into the earth.
Taking refuge in the cave, Lance and his sisters witness a terrifying sight. An alien fiend unfolds from a ball of fire and takes off toward Dublin. Lance takes off after the creature and makes his way into the city. Dublin has been ravaged by carnage, and alien fiends are everywhere, destroying everything in sight.
Lance accepts an invitation to join a resistance group called the People’s Liberation Force. Together they risk their lives and battle long and hard to defeat the aliens that have taken over their world. Armed with his father’s rifle, Lance may be forced to give his life to the group’s cause.
