The success of Big Data initiatives in any organization is very much dependent on the analytical skills of the management. As business schools seek to have an edge in an increasingly competitive management education sector, developing programs that meet the market need is an important step. To address the increased demand for qualified talent in SAS and data analytics, more schools will need to create their own offerings. For business schools, the first step in this journey is to sensitize their entire faculty to the whole gamut of analytics.

Jigsaw Academy, a premier online analytics training academy, launched its analytics workshops for Business school faculty earlier this month. It all began with Jigsaw Academy’s tour of Business Schools in India earlier this year. Having launched a Data Science and Analytics training programme exclusively for MBA students, Jigsaw wanted to personally engage with Business School students, spread awareness about the emerging field of data science and explain why analytics is crucial for managers of the future. The workshops were very well-received not only by students but also by the faculty and management of the business schools.

“During the workshops, we realized that many of the business schools were only just becoming aware of the huge potential of analytics. They were eager that their faculty also learn more about the field of analytics, so that they could then do their part in developing these skills in their students.” Says Sarita Digumarti, co founder and faculty at Jigsaw.

To respond to this need, Jigsaw Academy’s launched its analytics workshops for business school faculty. The workshops include an introduction to analytics, followed by sessions on applications of statistics to business, models and algorithms in analytics and explanations of some technique specific business case studies.

“The workshop is specially beneficial to us as professors, because it helps us understand and be more aware of the current trends in the analytics industry , which in turn assists in the guidance we provide to our students. My experience with Jigsaw has been exceptional, and I say exceptional cause they not only helped us understand the theoretical aspects on analyzing data, but also provided us with an opportunity to work with real data and understand its impact,” says Vandana Nair, faculty at St. Josephs College of Business Administration.

Excited with the excellent response the faculty workshops have had in business schools in Bangalore, Jigsaw plans to offer such workshops in other business schools across other parts of India later this year.
