The contest launches 12 writer careers and 12 illustrator careers every year with the annual anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future.

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) May 16, 2013

Offices of the L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future announced their first ever entrant from North Korea, making the total countries where entrants have sent in submissions to 158. In the past year twelve new countries were added to the list including such exotic places as Ajman in the United Arab Emirates, Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia and Guinea, to name a few.

L. Ron Hubbard saw the need back in 1984 to help those who have talent and need to be seen and heard. That was when the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future contest was created. The contest launches 12 writer careers and 12 illustrator careers every year with the annual anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future. "Back when the contest began, we had a little under 100 manuscripts come in for the very first quarter as the word was just getting out back in 1984," contest director Joni Labaqui said. "Now we are in the thousands quarterly. After 30 years, the word has gotten around. Our word-of-mouth is very strong, and has increased with the advent of the internet. Another factor is that entrants can now enter online, which takes care of the postal system problems that contestants in some countries face."

"We still continue to accept hard copy entries for those who just don't want to go through the online process," Labaqui continued, "but the majority of entrants now favor online. With no postage costs, it is virtually free to enter."

In addition to being published, the support and encouragement for the winners consists of prize money, a week long workshop which covers the basics of the business, mentoring by famous judges, an awards ceremony and press coverage.
