San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 25, 2013
LearnSprout, the first universal application programming interface (API) for K-12 education announced today a strategic partnership with inBloom (formerly the Shared Learning Collaborative). With the announcement, LearnSprout will provide schools and districts with free access to LearnSprout Connect to power a direct integration with inBloom. Additionally, the two organizations will be conducting a live demonstration of the integration along with several other inBloom partners at this year’s SXSWedu conference on March 6th in Austin, Texas.
inBloom is a nonprofit provider of technology services. Working with an alliance of states, foundations, educators, content providers, developers and vendors, inBloom has established a common technology infrastructure that allows states and public school districts to better integrate student data and third-party applications to support sustainable, cost-effective personalized learning. “We’re very happy to have LearnSprout onboard,” shared Iwan Streichenberger, “With a direct integration to the leading student information systems, we are able to accelerate adoption of inBloom across the K-12 ecosystem, helping to foster open innovation in support of personalized learning.”
LearnSprout simplifies systems integration and reveals key insights on student performance and engagement. Free to schools and districts and requiring only a few minutes to setup, LearnSprout has garnered widespread recognition for its ability to integrate with leading student information systems. With the inBloom partnership, the company aims to accelerate its mission to ‘free education from the bounds of closed data.’ “We’re seeing a huge push to open up education data.” said LearnSprout CEO Frank Chien. “With the inBloom partnership we will accelerate this trend by making it possible for schools around the world to plug into the inBloom service in a matter of minutes. We’re essentially greasing the skids for a new, interconnected edtech ecosystem.”
The new partnership will be featured at this year's SXSWedu conference in Austin, Texas where LearnSprout will demonstrate how a school or district can use its APIs to send live data from a student information system to the inBloom service. The demo will also feature several other inBloom partners who will demonstrate how that data flows from inBloom to feed live updates to their systems. Lead engineer Jon Fung who will be leading the live demo for LearnSprout commented “Plugging into inBloom was easy. I’m looking forward to showing off what this integration is capable of.” SXSWedu attendees can attend the demo on Wednesday, March 6th at the Hilton, Room 408.
About inBloom Inc.
inBloom Inc. is a nonprofit organization established to carry forward the mission of the Shared Learning Collaborative, which is to work to make personalized learning a reality for every U.S. student. inBloom provides technology services that allow states and public school districts to better integrate student data and learning applications to support sustainable, cost-effective personalized learning. inBloom is funded with initial philanthropic support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Carnegie Corporation of New York.
LearnSprout represents the latest thinking and best practices behind the development of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and has built the first universal API for K-12 education. By building a single integration that works across multiple student information systems (SIS), LearnSprout has opened the door to a world of student engagement data that until now, has been locked away, inaccessible to most K-12 administrators and aspiring edtech developers. Free to schools and districts, LearnSprout Connect is the easiest and most secure, FERPA compliant method for integrating an SIS within the edtech ecosystem.
