Many orthodontists lend their support to local charitable organizations, but Leduc orthodontics pro Dr. Amer Hussain sought to do something bigger. Seeking to create positive change on the global stage, the Pure Orthodontics team is partnering with "Free The Children," an organization that cultivates self-sustainability and intellectual growth among impoverished youth around the world. A portion of every patient’s treatment fee will go towards this inspiring philanthropy.
Established in 1995 by a determined 12 year-old angered by the atrocities of Southeast Asia’s child labor practices, Free The Children’s international mission revolves around the "Adopt a Village" model. Most charities provide the basics (medicines, clothing, and food) to countries overrun with poverty, but Free The Children pushes to reshape the culture and spark progress from within, rendering charity unnecessary.
Pure Orthodontics is funding the construction of a school house in Kenya. With their patients’ help, Kenyan youth will gain valuable skills in business, inspiration for alternative incomes, more efficient farming practices and beneficial healthcare habits. Unlike typical donations, these gifts of independence and self-sustainability put power in the hands of the recipients to change their future.
"We wanted to afford our patients the opportunity to make a substantial difference in the world," says Hussain, known by locals to be one of the best orthodontists in the area.
Hussain, an award-winning provider of conventional braces for teeth and Invisalign in Sherwood Park, has long strived to positively affect the world and the community. Pure Orthodontics recently founded a chapter of Smile For A Lifetime, a program that provides free orthodontic care to the community’s underprivileged.
