San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 13, 2011
In honor of International Left-Handers’ Day, Leftyslefthanded.com held its 2nd annual short left-handed video contest. Winning videos will be screened on August 13 at Lefty’s San Francisco on Pier 39, and posted on leftyslefthanded.com home page.
The first prize of $500 went to Caleb Philips for his very funny film “Get a Few Laughs”. Cody Smucker, first prize winner of last year’s contest, took 2nd place ($250) with his clever film “Me, Myself, and Right-Handed I”. Dennis Barahona and Mattin Meschi were each awarded Honorable Mentions with $100 prizes for their respective films, “Not Quite Right” and “Lefty Challenge”.
Left-handers are famously creative, with an especially high percentage drawn to the film industry. Lefty’s video contest is a place for young lefty filmmakers to tell their stories, and reach an audience who understands their issues. Lefty’s are a nearly silent minority, in part because right-handers just don’t understand their difficulties and frustrations.
This year’s contest required contestants to use one of Lefty’s gag products, either the left-handed dribble mug, which only lefties can use, or the left-handed playing cards, which also don’t work for righties. Funny and short, the winning videos show lefties playing gentle jokes on their right-handed friends – the opposite of what has happened to lefties their entire lives.
Come to Lefty’s San Francisco on Pier 39 August 13 to see the winning videos. Both Lefty’s on Pier 39 and Lefty’s in the Marketplace at Downtown Disney in Orlando will be giving away left-handed mugs with every purchase throughout Left-Handers Day.
The winning Left-Handed Videos as well as the winners of our Left-Handed Kids photo contest are posted on the home page at leftyslefthanded.com.
