Guinness Oyster & Music Festival Supports Local San Francisco Music Scene

Winner of local Battle of the Bands contest to open Guinness Oyster & Music Festival

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 26, 2013

The Guinness Oyster & Music Festival announced that the winner of SF Station’s “Lineup” battle of the bands contest shall perform an opening set at the 14th Annual festival (an event that draws more than 10,000 music loving, oyster slurping, and beer drinking fans annually) at Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco on Saturday, June 1, 2013, from 11-6 p.m.

One local band shall have the opportunity to open for the iconic, alt-80’s group Devo, and other headliners: Mutemath, Shiny Toy Guns and Family of the Year.

To take advantage of this unique opportunity, Bay area bands must submit their band info online to SF Station by April 29. SF Station will select 7-10 bands. Readers and fans shall vote for their favorite local band online between May 1-May 10. The 4 bands with the most votes will perform a special live music "Showcase" at Cafe Du Nord on May 22 – a “music institution” in San Francisco known for launching the careers of many now-famous musical groups. The winner then opens the Guinness Oyster & Music Festival.

Adding to the entertainment, the fun kicks up a notch this year with the addition of a new 2nd stage at the Guinness Oyster & Music Festival. Electronica DJ artists Bag Raiders, RAC, Classixx (Live), Chris Close (Live), and The Schmidt shall assist the crowd in getting their groove on. This unique San Francisco live music and foodie event just got even cooler!
