“Blood! Crimson-red blood! Blood oozing from his head wound, forming a pool on the cream-colored carpet. Neisha knelt by his side, felt his cold clammy face, gently pulled his eyelids over his glazed eyes, and inhaled the pungent smell of death.” This is the incident that changes Neisha Myers’ life forever. Afterwards, she becomes mired in intrigue and danger as she struggles to unravel a mystery that could destroy her family’s legacy. With no one left to trust, she must enter a world of secrets and deception by herself to seek out the Trail of Forgiveness. Thus begins author Marilyn Ellsworth Shelley’s exciting new mystery thriller, which revolves around the central theme of dealing with the loss of a loved one, which in Neisha’s case is, her father.
Having been trained to take over her family’s pharmaceutical conglomerate, the sudden demise of her father devastates Neisha. She believes that she is not yet ready to assume the position of CEO, and as she struggles with her loss, she is compelled to find the truth behind her father’s demise. She doubts the police report of suicide and at every turn of her investigation, she finds deceit, betrayal and threats on her life.
The secrets and deceptions hidden by her father and uncles for over 30 years lead her into danger and intrigue, and someone does not want her to uncover the mysteries that could destroy the corporate empire her forebears had built. Nevertheless, Neisha does not give up on her quest, she even sets aside her wedding plans, and her fiancé, Jed Turner, is driven away despite his desire to help her and protect her as she puts herself in harm’s way. Neisha believes that she will eventually find the truth, but what she does not know is that it will not mark the end of her ordeal, but merely the beginning of the long Trail of Forgiveness.
Shelley’s work is a murder mystery thriller, a classic ‘whodunit.’ Fast-paced and exciting, Trail of Forgiveness will provide murder mystery fans with a satisfying reading experience replete with unexpected twists and turns that will keep them on the edge of their seats.
