On February 21, 2013, nationally recognized traumatic brain injury attorney, Michael V. Kaplen will be a featured speaker at the annual education meeting of the Florida Justice Association (Formally known as the Florida Academy of Trial Attorneys). At the attorney continuing legal education conference, Kaplen will lecture and demonstrate to fellow attorneys from throughout Florida on the effective use of medical literature in the trial of a traumatic brain injury case.
Kaplen, a partner in the New York brain injury law firm, De Caro & Kaplen, a member of the New York and Florida bar is past chair of the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice, a nationwide organization of attorneys representing victims of personal injury and medical malpractice.
Kaplen said that, “he was gratified by his colleagues in Florida for recognizing his expertise in traumatic brain injury litigation and honored that he has been invited to speak at this year’s annual meeting.” Kaplen who concentrates his practice in representing survivors of a traumatic brain injury is a nationally known lecturer on the legal aspects of brain injury.
For over 30 years, he has represented victims of traumatic brain injury and other personal injuries caused by automobile crashes, bus and truck accidents, unsafe buildings, construction site accidents, and medical and hospital malpractice.
The brain injury attorney also serves as the Chair of the New York State Traumatic Brain Injury Services Coordinating Council, a board formed by the New York legislature to provide recommendations and proposals to the New York State Department of Health on issues pertaining to traumatic brain injury. He is the three term president of the Brain Injury Association of New York State.
Kaplen is Board Certified in Medical Malpractice by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys and Certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Advocate He has served as a Vice President of the New York Academy of Trial Lawyers and named a New York Super Lawyer for the past seven years.
