Members and guests of the NAPW Columbus, OH Local Chapter gathered on September 15th for a professional networking meeting at the Columbus Global Women’s Summit at the Gateway Health & Wellness Center, 112 Jefferson Avenue in Columbus, OH. The Chapter was one of the sponsors of the local event. Members and guests were inspired by the organization’s effort to help women and girls around the world and by the presentation of the keynote speaker, Dr. Lonise Bias, which focused on the theme ‘Let Women’s Voices Be Heard.’
The purpose and goal of the Columbus Global Women’s Summit, which was one of over 1,000 Summits around the country and throughout the world in 2012, was to raise charitable funds in an effort to establish a network and long-term mentoring relationship between women-owned businesses in the United States and women and girls in the Kibera slums of Kenya, Africa.
Gail V. Goldman, President of the NAPW Columbus, OH Local Chapter was proud that the Chapter was a contributing sponsor of this important community event, along with the ten other sponsors. At the event, members and guests had the opportunity to engage with highly regarded presenters and vendors. They heard them speak about real-world management experiences, and learned many practical leadership and business strategies for success.
“It was wonderful to see members and guests of the Columbus, OH Chapter reach out and participate in this event, not only as vendors but as individuals,” said Gail. “This is a great cause and this charitable event gave us the opportunity to meet face-to-face with each other and other community organizations in order to impact the lives of like-minded women seeking help.”
Dr. Rose Handon, CEO and President of Empowerment Network Circle and a NAPW Columbus, OH Local Chapter member said, “The Global Women’s Summit’s efforts were to reach and teach both women and girls to strengthen their local, state, and worldwide communities, to make a true difference in the lives of at-risk families and children.”
“At local community events such as the Summit, members and guests of the NAPW Columbus, OH Chapter are able to reach neighbors in communities around the world and make a profound impact as an individual by connecting with others through the sheer, total numbers that networking provides,” said the Chapter President.
“Several women attending the event expressed an interest in NAPW and have committed to joining the Columbus, OH Local Chapter,” President Gail added. “Chapter members and guests were able to serve a purposeful global cause and build new membership as well and that’s the true power of networking.”
At the Summit, members and guests heard from Luther Tyson, who gave a presentation on the Kibera slums and talked about how the mentoring relationships are impacting the lives of aspiring businesswomen and girls in the Kibera slums.
