Members and guests of the NAPW Montgomery, AL Local Chapter gathered on September 20th for a professional networking meeting at Panera Bread in The Shoppes at Eastchase. It is the Chapter’s usual venue for all of its meetings and allows members and guests the option to enjoy dinner during the networking events.
At the September meeting, NAPW Montgomery Local Chapter President Kate Rudd named Yvonne Messer as the new Chapter Vice President, welcomed new members along with Birmingham, AL Local Chapter President Tammy Shaw, and led discussions on Chapter’s goals. She also distributed NAPW welcome packages to new Chapter members.
“Some of the goals for the Montgomery Local Chapter include expanding our Chapter and as the new Vice President, Yvonne Messer will assist with contacting new members to grow our Chapter,” said Kate. “She will also help in other areas, as needed.”
The Chapter President briefly spoke about the meeting agenda and opportunities and events published on the NAPW Website such as the upcoming NAPW Convention in Atlanta, GA, the most recent NAPW Newsletter, and Lenovo discounts offered to NAPW members. Other items attendees discussed during the meeting were developing a volunteer system, engaging prospects, and increasing awareness about NAPW among companies, agencies, and organizations.
“We also want to become a part of local charities by volunteering and possibly doing some fundraising,” said Kate. “The members decided to focus on supporting local groups involving women in need.”
The Montgomery Chapter President then acknowledged Tammy Shaw, President of the NAPW Birmingham, AL Local Chapter and introduced her to the group.
“Tammy is trying to launch a Birmingham Chapter so I invited her to join us and I also shared some Presidential duties with her,” said Kate.
To make even more of an impact on Montgomery and surrounding areas, a discussion took place about the two Chapters getting together with the Tuscaloosa Chapter for meetings perhaps in Clanton and working on charity events as a team. Working with Habitat for Humanity for the upcoming Christmas holidays was mentioned as a possibility of charitable involvement for the Chapters.
Before closing the meeting, Chapter President Kate Rudd reminded attendees that the Chapter meetings are posted on the Montgomery Chapter Page on the NAPW Website for future reference. Meetings are set for October 18th and November 15th and will be held at the Panera Bread in Eastchase.
