Garden City, NY (PRWEB) March 26, 2013

Members and guests of the NAPW Hudson County, NJ Local Chapter gathered on January 12th for a professional networking meeting.

With help from other community members, the group of professional women treated 12 homeless women from The Hoboken Shelter to a day of beauty.

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer and Tim Occhipinti, Hoboken 4th Ward Councilman, were among those present who were there to support the Chapter’s efforts in bringing the community together to brighten the day for these 12 women.

“The Spa/Makover Day was such a wonderful event for the women of The Hoboken Shelter and the women of the Hudson County Local Chapter were thrilled to be a part of this exciting day,” said NAPW Hudson County Local Chapter President LaTrenda Ross.

“The smiles on the women’s faces were far more than we could ever ask for!”

The Hoboken Shelter’s mission is to be part of a community partnership that transforms lives by providing meals for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, and services to support people to become housed.

It shelters 50 people nightly, serves 300 meals daily, and provides such support services as food, shelter, case management, counseling, job and life skills training, creative arts workshops, and emergency homelessness prevention grants.

The group of professional women who represented the NAPW Hudson County Local Chapter tirelessly worked for months to organize and execute the day of beauty.

Luis Lugo, Owner of Crew Hair Studios, gave the Chapter the use of his salon for the day to ensure the event was a success.

“Mr. Lugo was extremely glad to collaborate with us and said he is looking forward to doing it again with us next year,” said the Chapter President.

In addition to Mr. Lugo, Hair Stylist Monique Smith, Owner of Monique’s Techniques, and her
assistant Alfie Spencer, were on hand to put a little glamour into the lives of the women from The Hoboken Shelter.

Angela McKnight expertly applied makeup that was donated by several people from the community.

Certified Health Counsel and Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Jyoti Nebhnani enlightened the women, members, and guests with helpful information and techniques for a healthier and happier life.

Chiffon Abney shared her expertise in finance and presented a financial seminar during the event. Two other very special guests were present, as well.

“We were honored with the presence of Mayor Dawn Zimmer of Hoboken, who offered words of praise and spoke with the women, Chapter members, and guests,” said LaTrenda Ross.

“And we are truly grateful for Tim Occhipinti, Hoboken 4th Ward Councilman, for bringing a lovely spread of food and dessert for all to enjoy.”

The Chapter President acknowledged the hard work of all the Hudson County members especially Betty Rentas, who regularly plays a pivotal role in transforming the Chapter’s special events from ordinary to extraordinary.

She also thanked Dolores Daniels, President of Events, for the excellent job she did in organizing the event.

“The event would not be possible without all of the support of our members, guests, and sponsors, and most importantly, Dolores Daniels,” said the Chapter President.

“I am grateful for the excellent job Dolores did, working diligently from early morning to late at night to make this event such a success.”

The following members and guests were at the Spa/Makeover Day: LaTrenda Ross; President; Angela McKnight, Dolores Daniels: President of Events, Glenda Salley, Sadiah Brown, Betty Rentas, Joyti Nebhnani, Chiffon Abney, and Pastor Pamela Loving-Felts.
