New York, NY (PRWEB) August 17, 2010

Today, DivorceToday.com, a leading provider of New York divorce forms since 1999, announced that it is discounting its customized New York divorce forms by 50% in celebration of New York's new no fault divorce statute. On Sunday, New York became the last state in the nation to provide its residents with a no fault no-fault divorce option, with Governor Paterson announcing that he had approved the measure, which had been debated for decades.

The long-awaited law, A9753/S3890, which applies to all New York divorce filings from now on, provides that one spouse can receive a divorce by declaring under oath that a marriage has been "irretrievably" broken for at least six months.

The text of the legislation makes specific reference to the unacceptable and unnecessary difficulties that were long encountered by New York residents under the New York’s fault-based divorce system. The bill acknowledges that long after every other state in the nation implemented no fault divorce, New York residents were forced to wait unduly long periods to get divorced, and that the lack of a no-fault divorce option “result[ed] in conflict within the family” and led to “additional stress to an already difficult situation.”

New York’s newly implemented no-fault divorce statute takes effect on October 12, 2010, and it requires that all financial issues be resolved prior to the issuance of a divorce judgment. For New York matrimonial litigants, divorce attorneys, and judges, New York's new no-fault divorce law is being welcomed as a long-overdue step in modernizing NY divorce and reducing the stress and costs associated with getting divorced in New York.

Marc A. Rapaport, a New York divorce attorney who was a vocal advocate of no-fault divorce, commented that "this statute represents a much needed modernization of New York divorce law, and it will reduce the time, stress and cost associated with divorce. The new no-fault statute is being widely welcomed by virtually everyone in the legal community."

In 1999, Mr. Rapaport founded DivorceToday.com, a provider of NY divorce forms with offices in Manhattan's Empire State Building. DivorceToday provides divorce forms for residents of all counties in New York State. It also provides both blank and customized marital separation agreements and related divorce documents.

In celebration of this momentous occasion, DivorceToday.com, is drastically reducing its prices for customized New York divorce forms. The price reduction DivorceToday's NY divorce forms takes effect today, and it will continue only until August 31, 2010. During this two-week period, DivorceToday.com will prepare customized NY uncontested divorce papers at nearly a 50% discount.

Persons interested in taking advantage of DivorceToday's limited time savings offer on New York divorce forms may choose from two different options for their forms:

(a) clients may request that their divorce forms be prepared based on NY current, fault-based divorce law (usually with abandonment as the ground for divorce) in which case they will be able to file their uncontested divorce forms immediately with their local court.

(b) Alternatively, divorce forms can be prepared based on the new, no-fault law. Your divorce forms will be prepared immediately. However, people who choose New York's new no-fault divorce option must wait until October 12, 2010, the law's effective date, before filing their forms with the court.
