New York, New York (PRWEB) January 30, 2013
Jets coach Rex Ryan was involved in a three-car auto accident in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. As reported by USA Today, Ryan ran a red light in his Ford Mustang and hit another car. The impact sent the struck car careening into a third car. No injuries were reported. This is an interesting look at the way media works, said New York auto accident lawyer David Perecman.
Accidents with no injuries and minor damage typically do not make the news, especially the national news. However, this one involved a well-known NFL coach.
“Regardless of who the driver was, his actions put him legally at fault for the crash because he violated a traffic signal,” said Perecman.
USA Today reported that Ryan received a warning and not a citation after the accident.
“If someone had been hurt, Ryan would likely have faced a car accident lawsuit and more penalties,” said Perecman.
If a person is injured in an accident caused by a driver who runs a red light, he or she may be entitled to receive compensation for injuries and losses caused by the crash. This compensation may cover lost wages, medical care, pain and suffering, and more.
