Plumbworld undergoes a branding makeover

Once a brand is established on a website, it’s very rarely changed. However, in this instance, both the Duratherm and Hydrolux brand on the Plumbworld website have continued to grow over the years; and this has left customers with a huge and quite confusing range to choose from.

To avoid this getting any worse, Plumbworld have decided to take a proactive approach and redefine the brands with what can only be described as a complete overhaul. The overhaul will include splitting the brand down into sub-brands based on the price-point and quality of the item, as well as a logo makeover to compliment this.

James Cook, E-Commerce Assistant explains this in a bit more detail: “Both brands at present are extremely diverse and offer a scope of products ranging from ‘value-items’ to ‘high-end designer’ products. This is where we feel there’s a lack of disparity and our solution is to divide the current Duratherm & Hydrolux brand into sub-brands.”

“It’s likely that the new branding will involve 3 tiers which will address customer needs for a value/budget product, mid-range items and top-end designer styled products. This will create the divide that is much needed and should hopefully make it easier for visitors to the site to find exactly what they’re looking for without wasting time searching through products that don’t meet their requirements.”

It appears to be quite a customer-conscious decision to split the brands like this. However, as Plumbworld have changed the site before in order to aid online shoppers, this doesn’t really come as a surprise.

As Plumbworld ever continues to tailor the site towards its customers, it becomes increasingly obvious why they are one of the UK’s leading online bathroom retailers. This dedication to improving the online shopping experience is something that many other businesses should seek to employ...

The Plumbworld website is hosted on the large Online Home Retail network at present. The network already hosts 50 niche-specific websites which sell a whole range of products, varying from hedge trimmers all the way to Flymo lawnmowers which can be purchased from: http://www.flymo-mowers.co.uk/. Online Home Retail Limited was originally Plumbworld Ltd back in 1999 and since then it has been bought by the Grafton Group PLC in 2006 and received a brand overhaul in June 2012. The business now employs close to 60 people in its purpose built warehouse and offices whilst turning over in excess of £20 million per year.
