January sales are one of the busiest times of year for high-street shops and online retailers alike; Plumbworld know this all too well. For the last several years, January has been one of the busiest months of the year with many people choosing to splash out their Christmas cash on bathroom products featuring in the sale.
The period after Christmas is that time of year when things can go either way for a business and this is usually dependent upon the industry or market they’re in and how well the sale and prices are marketed.
Many big-name retailers can afford to let their prices do the talking and do minimal promotional work for their January sale, whereas smaller businesses don’t have this luxury. This often leads the smaller folks to spend more on advertising than they can afford or continue to cut prices to beat competition which usually has a substantial impact on their overall profits.
So, how has Plumbworld got it so right? Scott Morris, Marketing Manager attempts to explain: “We’re quite confident in Plumbworld’s brand and identity, so we don’t feel the need to spend thousands on TV promotions or other similar advertising methods. Instead, we pass these savings onto the products which benefit the customers and gain the site additional traffic due to low prices attracting shoppers that may often user other online shops.”
Scott continues on to say: “We focus the majority of our energy into online promotion which utilises natural search engine rankings and various pay-per-click strategies. Based on our January sales figures, we can say these methods are proving to be extremely successful and hopefully we will be able to sustain these kinds of numbers in the future...”
However, as Plumbworld have had to call an end to their current January sale, it remains uncertain how likely it is for them to carry on hitting these figures over the coming months. Thankfully for customers, they have decided to still offer a small range of clearance products at rock bottom prices; interested? Click here to see the range.
The Plumbworld website is currently being hosted on the growing Online Home Retail network. With over 50 niche-specific websites already, the OHR network certainly has a large variety of products available. A wide range of gardening equipment and even lawnmowers can be purchased from the following site: http://www.gardentoolbox.co.uk/. Online Home Retail Limited was originally Plumbworld Ltd back in 1999 and since then it has been bought by the Grafton Group PLC in 2006 and received a brand overhaul in June 2012. The business now employs close to 60 people in its purpose built warehouse and offices whilst turning over in excess of £20 million per year.
