In his new book “China Red: A Caleb Frost Novel” (published by iUniverse) author Ralph Sanborn begins a new series of thriller novels featuring his protagonist, Caleb Frost.

“China Red” is a fast-paced action thriller involving drug smuggling, murder and kidnapping on three continents. It’s a classical pitting of good against evil, driven by tightly drawn characters. Caleb Frost’s quest to render justice is defined by his comment regarding his methodology: “chaos is never neat and clean; it’s always messy.”

An excerpt from “China Red”:

“His look of innocence served him well in the world in which he had to survive. The images resident deep within his pale-gray eyes told another story. They had witnessed and recorded scenes and events most people would not be able to assimilate and then continue with their normal lives. His resilience to the onslaught of life’s ugly realities left him a tortured force within a deceptively benign exterior.”

Sanborn knows that the draw of any series is its characters, and has constructed his to be irresistible. His book, he says, “reflects the ethical convolutions evident in today’s society. Indiscriminate evil, cloaked in self-serving theological, ideological, and political rationales.”
