I look up to all of these women, of course. But I want my name to be added to that list. I don’t want to just be a miniature version of them.

Greenville, SC (PRWEB) December 17, 2012

Author, motivational speaker, and TV host Raven Magwood will be graduating from Clemson University’s Honors College summa cum laude at only 19 years old. In recognition of all her success, Clemson’s mayor will be honoring the former national gymnastics champion and certified prodigy with “Raven Magwood Day” in the city of Clemson, SC on December 20, 2012.

“I’m very excited, both about the holiday and my graduation. I feel that I am starting a great, new chapter in my life,” Magwood said.

After looking more into her background, it is safe to say that Magwood has had a unique college experience. She started Clemson as a sophomore at only 16 years old, after graduating high school with a 5.1 GPA. At 17 years old, she withdrew from classes for over a year to host her own TV show “The Raven Magwood Show,” which received great ratings in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

“I had a lot of fun with the show. And I was able to meet some very interesting people. But I wanted to get my degree before completely diving into my career.”

With that said, Magwood reenrolled at Clemson, the same college where her father won a national football championship and her mother received two degrees. Now, less than a year later, she is ready to walk the stage in her graduation gown as one of Clemson’s youngest graduates in the school’s recent history.

Beyond the books and prestige, Magwood is adamant about giving back. In late 2012, she started the Student Athlete Pledge to inspire young athletes to become the best they can be. She even started the Raven Magwood Foundation to help other people achieve their dreams. In addition, she dedicates a portion of her website sales to help fund breast cancer research.

“Not only do I have my foundation, but it has become a part of my business model to give 10% back. Whether it’s to charity, a youth organization, or to church, I feel as though that 10% doesn’t belong to me.”

Even though Magwood is constantly compared to other extraordinary, powerful women (Oprah Winfrey, Condoleezza Rice, Michelle Obama), she is determined to make her own mark. “I look up to all of these women, of course. But I want my name to be added to that list. I don’t want to just be a miniature version of them.”

With her latest book release, The 7 Practices of Exceptional Student Athletes, Magwood is on her way to doing just that. She can be booked for speeches and appearances through her website at http://www.RavenMagwood.com.
