Remuda Ranch’s Director of Primary Care and Nutrition, Lesley Williams, MD, was a speaker at the 2013 Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Food and Nutrition Conference on April 11 – 13 in Austin, Texas.
The title of Dr. Williams’ session was “Eating Disorders 2013: Diagnosis, Complications and Treatment Updates.” New updates in the DSMV eating disorder diagnoses, as well as the multiple medical complications associated with eating disorders, was also discussed. In addition, the talk focused on medical and nutritional stabilization in an inpatient setting.

Many in attendance had encountered eating disorders in their patients, colleagues, friends and even themselves,” said Dr. Lesley Williams, Director of Primary Care and Nutrition at Remuda Ranch. “Everyone was enthusiastic about the topic and appreciated learning more about the potential medical complications associated with eating disorders.”
Dr. Williams received her medical degree from the University of Kentucky and completed her Family Medicine residency training at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Dr. Williams has worked full-time at Remuda since 2004. She is especially interested in the impact that eating disorders have on the body and the increased vulnerability to eating disorders that women experience at pivotal life changes.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, (TAND), is a not-for-profit professional organization of over 4,000 registered dietitians, dietetic technicians, and students in Texas. TAND members provide expert food and nutrition resources for Texans.
