Roger and Debbie Clemens Tee it Up for Kids in Need

“Contributing to sporting events that support children has been part of my Foundation’s work for over 20 years. When we heard what CFC was doing to help kids, we knew we wanted to be involved." Roger Clemens

Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 04, 2013

Texas Golf ConneXion (TGC), Houston's #1 online source for golf skins games, announced today that Roger “The Rocket” Clemens, seven-time Cy Young Award winner and 1986 MVP, will be playing in the Compete for Compassion (CFC) Skins Game at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club on April 28th to help raise money for children.

Clemens and his wife Debbie, both known for their philanthropic work through the Roger Clemens Foundation and Debbie Clemens.com, will participate in the FUNdraiser, where 2-person teams will scramble to win $5,000 in Skins and a $5,000 medal purse.

Each accomplished players (Roger is a single digit handicapper who tied for ninth at the World Am Championships in Myrtle Beach last August; Debbie shoots regularly in the 80’s), the golfing couple see events like CFC as a vehicle to raise awareness and funds for the charities they support throughout Texas and the US.

“Contributing to sporting events that support children has been part of my Foundation’s work for over 20 years,” said Roger. “And so when Debbie and I heard about Compete for Compassion and the work they are doing to make a difference in kids’ lives, we knew we wanted to get involved and do what we could to help.”

Allen Baytes, founder and tournament director for Compete for Compassion, hopes this first event opens many opportunities to collaborate with The Roger Clemens Foundation on serving the needs of local children’s charities.

“I couldn’t be more delighted to have the Clemens’ and their friends tee it up with their fans at our first, of what I hope to be, many charity skins games for years to come,” said Baytes. “We share the same passion for the game and for the opportunities it brings to those who so desperately need our help. I want to thank Roger and Debbie for their support and encourage everyone to come out and join them in friendly competition.”

The registration deadline for the inaugural Compete for Compassion Skins Game is April 15, 2013. Entry fees are $195 (plus taxes) per player.

Numerous sponsorship levels are still available. To learn more, contact Allen Baytes, Tournament Director at abaytes (at) baytes (dot) com, (713) 824-4636

About The Roger Clemens Foundation
The Roger Clemens Foundation is dedicated to helping children. It was established in 1992 by Roger and Debbie Clemens in order to ensure that funds raised by the Foundation through golf tournaments, silent auctions and other events, would be properly distributed to the charities and organizations that they have committed to support.
The Foundation exists for the purpose of carrying on and supporting educational, charitable, literary, scientific and religious activities for children, with a special emphasis on underprivileged and at-risk children, and children with special needs.
