Like many people, Ronald Ragotzy was never able to find a religion he was comfortable with. Even so however, he knew they all had common themes. “The main themes centered on faith, and that is what I kept asking myself when I started reading the Bible again,” he shares. In his new book, “Raising Abel: The Life of Faith” (published by Balboa Press), Ragotzy explores the most familiar chapters in the book of Genesis, not as a collection of stories regarding the beginning of time, but as a guide on the subject of faith.
In “Raising Abel,” Ragotzy explains faith within the framework of wellness, dividing Genesis into four themes answering four questions.
1. The Premise: What does healthy faith look like? (Genesis 1-2)
2. The Problem: What can cause this healthy state to become “diseased”? (Genesis 3-5)
3. The Prescription: What medicine is needed to restore us to a healthy faith? (Genesis 6-9:17)
4. The Practice: What must we do to maintain this healthy faith? (Genesis 9:18-11)
“For us, faith is the most holy thing we can possess,” Ragotzy believes. “All we need to do to have faith in our lives is to build a place for it.”
