With the publication of her new mystery novel “Inspector Paws and the Wonders of Europe” (published by iUniverse), debut author Rosemary Budd fulfills her lifelong dream of writing a book. That she’s successfully done so using the same feline point of view that she has used in her recent Christmas letters is, to her, icing on the cake.
Inspector Paws, a battle-scarred former alley cat, is trying to figure out who killed Ernie, his 59-year-old adopted caretaker, when Ernie's wife, Stella, and her zany friend, Jo, haul him off to Europe on a bus tour. He soon discovers that the killer has followed them and realizes he and Stella are both in danger. If Paws wants to get home to his comfortable lifestyle in Ernie's armchair by the fire, he has to protect Stella, figure out who the killer is and, even more difficult, communicate who the killer is to the sensory-challenged humans.
Budd’s intention in writing is simply to entertain, and she knows there is an audience for her brand of entertainment. “It's a fun read,” she says, “and will appeal to any cat lovers and/or mystery lovers who can suspend reality enough to accept a cat as the detective hero.”
