San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) April 23, 2013
A leading meetings industry magazine focused on the South has given its seal of approval to two San Antonio River Walk hotels for their dedication to conserving and protecting the environment through various eco-friendly services.
The San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter and San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk have earned certificates from ConventionSouth magazine for providing energy-smart options for meetings and events. The magazine set up a strict review process and based its findings off of in-depth questionnaires filled out by the San Antonio, TX, hotels. Editors assure meeting planners that they “can feel confident that ‘Green Meetings Approved by ConventionSouth’ cities, hotels and facilities conserve energy and fuel, reduce product use, reuse products, recycle products and use local products when available.”
Each hotel offers meeting attendees 100 percent recycled note pads, pens made from 74 percent recycled materials, eco-friendly water service, organic flowers upon request, paperless billing and online event menus as well as rooms with energy-efficient bulbs, low-flow showerheads and toilets and a linen-reuse program. The hotels’ key cards are made from 50 percent recycled materials, and flipchart papers for meetings are 20 percent post-consumer recycled content. Other conservation efforts noted for each property include: the use of electronic event displays rather than paper signage to save trees; condiments being purchased in bulk to keep trucks from having to make multiple trips and waste fuel; and the installation of purified water coolers in foyer areas. The Starbucks coffee shops in each San Antonio River Walk hotel also use recycled cups from post-consumer products.
The San Antonio, TX, hotels distribute daily green tips to staff members so they can always be aware of opportunities to save energy and share their knowledge with guests.
Each of the River Walk hotels goes well beyond the Marriott standard, though, to save the environment and reduce its carbon footprint. The San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter has installed motion-sensor lights in its service elevator landings, while the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk has put motion-sensor lights in storage rooms and offices and has been recognized as an Energy Star-certified property.
Both properties also have teamed up to donate more than 100,000 pounds of food to the San Antonio Food Bank to ensure nothing goes to waste.
When it comes to San Antonio meeting space, the Marriott properties offer nearly 75,000 square feet to host conferences, conventions, retreats, social events or weddings. The San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter has 63 meetings rooms with a Grand Ballroom that can seat 6,400 people. The San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk boasts the Alamo Ballroom with room for 1,100 professionals as well as 14 other spacious and flexible rooms. Both hotels offer state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment plus professional tech support.
The 38-floor San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter and 30-story San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk stand tall above San Antonio’s scenic River Walk. Each offers deluxe accommodations with luxurious bedding, thoughtful amenities and convenient services to make meetings as enjoyable as possible.
