Texas has always been known as a no-nonsense state – and this same rule of thumb also applies to their driving laws. With annual surcharges being applied to individuals with certain offenses on their driving records, more people are determined to maintain error-free DMV reports in an effort to avoid these charges. As a result of this increasing demand, more users are turning to to avoid the penalties of tough Texas driving laws. is an innovative and user-friendly online service that allows individuals to search for their driving records in just a split second. These driving record searches – which were previously only available to employers and individuals willing to wait in long DMV lines – are done quickly and accurately, giving more people the opportunity to see what information is contained in their MVR reports.

“Some of Texas’s new driving laws – including the Driver Responsibility Program – has made it incredibly important to understand what’s contained on your driving records,” says Jeffrey Kellner, founder of “Otherwise, you could end up paying hundreds – even thousands – of dollars in surcharges as a result of certain driving offenses.”

Introduced back in 2003, the Driver Responsibility Program is a controversial Texas law that requires drivers convicted of certain charges to pay large penalties every year. While the law is currently under fire (a recent bill sought to repeal the law back in November 2012), the Driver Responsibility Program looks to remain, as it has generated almost $1 billion dollars for the state’s emergency services.

The new Driver Responsibility Program was designed to discourage reckless driving. Drivers with six points on their licenses (usually a result of moving violations) will be charged an additional $100 for license renewals each year. That fee increases by $25 for each additional point. These fees must be paid every year for as long as the points remain on a person’s driver’s license.

To avoid being penalized, it pays for drivers to understand how many points currently exist on their licenses. That’s why the demand for has increased, as more Texas drivers are determined to avoid the expensive surcharges brought on by excessive moving violations.

“Knowledge is power,” Kellner points out. “By using to understand what’s already on your Texas driving record, you can take certain steps to avoid paying penalties as a result of excessive violations.”
