Ticket Liquidator - It's more than a ticket.

“Our group plans to focus on new work – everything from festivals to shorter plays to readings – and promote the cultural arts in the state of Connecticut using state resources and artists from start to finish,” said Crowley.

Ticket Liquidator is proud to sponsor “One Little Wish,” an exciting new Connecticut theatrical production, and to support Speerhead Theatricals, Inc., the charitable non-profit institution producing the play.

“One Little Wish,” a new fully-staged musical fable featuring a 5-piece orchestra, was written and produced by Connecticut playwright Colin Speer Crowley. Paul Robert Bartsch, composer of more than 9 successful book musicals, wrote the Latin music score and Shawn Amdur, former President of Troupers Light Opera Company and director of several musicals, is directing the production.

The plot of “One Little Wish,” centers on a man who puts a magical curse on a pear tree - and changes his life and the world itself. The play was inspired by a fable of French or Cuban origin that Crowley was exposed to in a French class while in college. The story is full of twists and turns and unexpected outcomes, but the structure itself was bare, so Crowley added some contextual layering, expanded the plot and built a backstory. He also changed the location of the narrative to tropical Paraguay.

“One Little Wish,” written in 2011, is Crowley’s fifth play; he has previously written two musicals and two straight plays. He began writing professionally in 2006-2007, and some of his previous works have included a musical production in Seattle, a recent play in London, and a screenplay. He also contributed lyrics to shows in Seattle and London. Crowley previously collaborated with the veteran composer Bartsch on a 2010 play. Crowley, who is Ticket Liquidator’s Customer Loyalty Service Manager, is also acting in the play.

Crowley is the founder and President of Speerhead Theatricals, Inc., whose goal is to promote the cultural arts in the State of Connecticut, using state resources and artists, actors, stage technicians, authors, and other theatrically-oriented individuals.

“Our group plans to focus on new work – everything from festivals to shorter plays to readings – and promote the cultural arts in the state of Connecticut using state resources and artists from start to finish,” said Crowley.

The actors in “One Little Wish” are from all over the state, including Coventry, Greenwich, Old Saybrook, Weston, Norwalk, Fairfield, Manchester and more. The instrumentalists all hail from the state; the director is from Greenwich and the set designer is from Middletown.

The goals for Speerhead Theatricals include bringing new theatrical works and experiences into local communities and areas lacking theatrical diversity and forming partnerships with state businesses, venues, and community groups. They also hope to provide opportunities for Connecticut undergraduate and graduate students to participate in serious theatrical productions. They also look to promote Connecticut theater to out-of-state citizens through resident and professional connections in Massachusetts, New York, and other surrounding states and to sponsor regular theatrical productions on an annual basis.

Speerhead Theatricals inaugural production “One Little Wish” opens this Friday, Nov. 16, for the first of four shows at the Wilton Playshop in Wilton, Conn. Four additional shows at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Theater in Old Saybrook, Conn. begin on Friday, Nov. 23.
