UK Healthcare are one of the leading providers of personal and corporate health cash plans in the UK, but they are perhaps just as well known in the healthcare industry for their generous annual charity work. In 2012, this included a donation to the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
The MND Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland which supports people living with MND; whilst funding and promoting cutting edge research.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressive disease that attacks the nerves that control movement; people can still think and feel but their muscles refuse to work. It can leave people locked inside a failing body, unable to walk, talk and eventually breathe. The MND Association has a vision of a World Free of MND but until then they do all that they can to ensure people living with MND receive the best care, achieve the highest quality of life possible and die with dignity.
At UK Healthcare’s annual charity presentation, held at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium, representatives of UK Healthcare presented the Motor Neurone Disease Association with a cheque for £8,000.
Accepting the donation on behalf of the MNDA, Ben Sharpe said that the money would be directed towards their Equipment Loan Service an area of invaluable work in the fight against MND.
"To be awarded this wonderful donation from UK Healthcare is just amazing. We are seeing an unprecedented rise in requests for support and this will ensure that we can continue to provide equipment to people that need it the most. On behalf of the MND Association I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to UK Healthcare for their very generous support."
With 8,000 members throughout the UK, the Motor Neuron Disease Association is the largest organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by MND, now and in the years ahead. The organisation also boasts 3,000 active volunteers and 140 paid staff; all of whom share the same goal.
In the year 2012, UK Healthcare donated more than £55,000 to charitable organisations across the UK.
With a personal or corporate health cash plan, policy holders can claim cash back from a variety of medical services and hospital procedures including eye, ear and dental work, prescriptions, hospital stays, health screenings and other therapies.
