Under healthcare reform, online marketplaces will be used by millions of people to select their benefit options both through the government exchanges and through private exchanges sponsored by insurance plans, employer organizations and brokers.

New York, NY and Orlando, FL (PRWEB) November 13, 2012

When HealthPass began operations in 1999 as New York City’s small business insurance purchasing alliance, it selected Workable Solutions as its administrative partner. Located in Orlando, Florida, Workable Solutions is a web technology provider and third party insurance administrator. The two have worked together for more than 13 years to make HealthPass one of the longest running and most successful small business purchasing alliances, now commonly known as “exchanges”, in the nation.

With the most recent presidential election now official and the state-sponsored health care exchange mandate of the Affordable Care Act set to take effect in January 2014, HealthPass and Workable Solutions have re-evaluated their respective business strategies. Workable Solutions has for the past decade focused solely on the private insurance exchange market, whereas HealthPass has chosen to add participation in state sponsored exchanges to its ongoing private exchange operation. To that end, both Workable Solutions and HealthPass have mutually agreed to end their working relationship in mid-2013 in order to focus on their respective priorities.

“On both a personal and professional level I have enjoyed working with the Workable Solutions team and appreciate the help they have provided in the highly-competitive New York market,” said Vince Ashton, President and CEO of HealthPass.

“In many ways Workable Solutions and HealthPass have been pioneers in offering individually-selected benefits to employees of small businesses,“ said Terry McCorvie, President and CEO of Workable Solutions. “The current movement toward defined-contribution benefit models with individually-tailored employee selections underscores the impact HealthPass has had on the market.”

Under healthcare reform, online marketplaces will be used by millions of people to select their benefit options both through the government exchanges and through private exchanges sponsored by insurance plans, employer organizations and brokers.
