Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) December 04, 2012
ZeroEnergy Design, an award winning green architecture and mechanical design firm, today announced that the firm has converted into a Benefit Corporation, as allowed by a new Massachusetts state law. The firm is one of only approximately ten in the state to do so at this time.
Benefit Corporations must create a material positive impact on society as well as for shareholders, and reflect on how the firm’s decisions affect their employees, community, and the environment. Moreover, they must publicly report on their social and environmental performances annually.
"The shift to a benefit corporation was a natural path, reflecting values already ingrained in our firm's culture and work. We're pleased to see the state's legal structure enables us to formally express those positive societal and environmental benefits", said Stephanie Horowitz AIA of ZeroEnergy Design.
