Report: Internet Advertising Company Background Inquiries Up 33.4% at BBB

Study conducted by Searchen Networks® indicates savvier consumers looked to BBB more frequently in 2012 than prior year when choosing among Internet advertising providers; additionally, service complaints rose 24.8% in 2012.

According to statistics released by the Better Business Bureau, in 2012 consumers asked the BBB for help 1,764,350 times in 2012 when choosing an Internet advertising company and/or Internet related promotional service. This figure reflects an increase of 33.4% from 2011. Filings of formal complaints against Internet advertising businesses yielded 10,707 records, up 24.8% from 8,577 in the previous year.

Inquiries are those contacts to BBB when consumers initially inquire about a business or service before actually engaging that business, while complaints are formal procedures consumers file against a particular business after services received (or the lack thereof) when they have a problem they cannot resolve on their own.
