Asian Art Crowd-sourcing & Trading Platform, Artyii, Raises 0.5 Million from Art Angels

Founded by 2 college graduates, Artyii (http://www.artyii.com) is a platform that showcases emerging Asian art to the world. With a severe lack of channels for thousands of emerging paint artists in Asia to showcase their work, the company allows artists to price and sell their works on their platform fairly. The company is now moving to assist hospitality and F&B businesses to crowd-source and commission gallery grade wall paintings for their properties at good prices.

Artyii is bringing one of the oldest industries in the world, art, online. The founders, Shannon Lim and Ng Cai Lin, art lovers themselves, maintain that the internet is key for both artists to gain recognition and for buyers and galleries to discover new talent.

Already, emerging and extremely talented artists are screaming for attention on their blogs and social networking sites and most galleries are still sticking to traditional offline referral methods to pick up promising artists.

Their platform represents a replication of that referral model - online. Based in Singapore, Artyii's focus is on Asian art.

Working on an "Invite Only" basis, all artists have to apply for an invitation before being able to list with Artyii, and a panel of art professionals will vet through their online application to determine a certain level of skill and talent.

Once in, they're able to invite their artist friends and start putting up their works for sale, if they choose to. For the artist, its totally free to join and Artyii only earns a small commission by faciliating the payment and logistics if a sale is made.

Launched in December 2010, Artyii is already growing in artists eager to be recognised. Their facebook page is already teeming with activity as artists stream in, from Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia.

Art professionals are welcomed to join the community as well. The benefits to joining as an art professional would be exclusive access to Artyii's database of artists and free publicity of their projects to a very targeted market of artists and art buyers.

While many would still prefer to physically see and buy art at their local gallery, co-founder, Shannon, shares that for the wallet friendly original pieces that Artyii carries, getting art lovers to buy art online is gradually becoming less of a concern. He says that a large proportion of his customers are younger, more savvy art lovers.

Moreover he says, "On Artyii, you get to know the artist and his story on a very personal level, to see his complete profile and even see art professionals' comments on his pieces before you make a informed decision on your purchase."

He goes on, "We try to be an independent platform where there's no conflict of interest when selling someone a piece."

If you're a first time art buyer or someone looking for quality, original wall paintings for your home or office, you now know where to go.
