Read is rising quickly through the ranks of professional drivers on his way to a Formula One or Indy Car seat
Fremont, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) June 18, 2011
Maaco Auto Body & Paint, located in Fremont, is sponsoring race car driver Lloyd Read. As a rising star in motorsports and an active supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Maaco has decided that Read is the right driver to whom they should lend their support.
“Read is rising quickly through the ranks of professional drivers on his way to a Formula One or Indy Car seat,” said Frank Barnard of Maaco Auto Body & Paint.
Read will be driving two different Star Mazda formula cars this year. In the Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear, Read is 1st in championship points after his most recent races at Infineon Raceway at Sears Point. On May 28, Read set a new track record at the Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca on his way to winning first place in the SCCA SFR Championship race. Read hopes to join other Star Mazda graduates such as NASCAR and Formula One star Scott Speed, Indy drivers Marco Andretti (son of Michael and grandson of Mario Andretti) and Graham Rahal (son of Bobby Rahal) and NASCAR/Champ Car/GTP driver Michael McDowell.
The new sponsorship provided by Maaco auto body in Fremont brings Read one step closer to his goal of racing in the Indianapolis 500. Read also supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation that helps patients suffering from lung disease. He has given donations to the cause, and participated in walkathons to benefit the foundation and increase awareness of the disease. He even displays a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation graphic on his race car, showing great commitment and support for the foundation. Maaco is confident in the potential that Read can attain both in his sport and by giving back to society.
