The American Water Works Association and others throughout the water community are celebrating National Drinking Water Week, May 5-11, by encouraging people across the country to learn more about their water. Gillece Services is one member of the water community in Pittsburgh emphasizing the importance of home water quality during Drinking Water Week.

Drinking Water Week- founded by the American Water Works Association- focuses this year on consumers getting to know the water in their own community and at home, as well as learning how to take better care of water supplies and plumbing. Practices aim to help protect water and consumers’ health at the same time, while understanding how to keep water safe in general.

Gillece Services offers tips for water quality protection and information about drinking water regulations and main water supplies, including encouraging homeowners to have their water tested and to request a Consumer Confidence Report from their water company. Gillece also provides options for homeowners to improve the quality of their water through filtration and purification systems, which reduce chemical presence and other impurities to deliver clean, high-quality water at the kitchen sink or through every tap in a home.

Gillece Water Quality Services helps homeowners year-round to improve the quality of their tap water and to maintain their household plumbing systems. Filtration and purification systems are part of the effort to encourage drinking tap water over bottled water while such systems can improve water’s taste and quality. Plumbing inspections and services help homeowners to take proper care of faucets, sinks, drains, water heaters, and all other plumbing for a better maintained home and quality of water.

For more than 35 years, AWWA and its members have celebrated Drinking Water Week – a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives. Additional information about Drinking Water Week, including free materials for download, is available on the Drinking Water Week web page.
