Elephant Camp in Southern Laos

This tour is not only inspirational and education in terms of informing travelers about how elephants live, but also the conservation efforts to sustain their population.

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) April 05, 2013

The three-day, two-night elephant camp stay includes the unique opportunity to bathe and feed the gentle giants, as well as study the unique bond between elephant and mahout up close. Travelers will learn the traditional techniques for mounting and dismounting the giant animals as well as possibly have the chance to learn how to ride one bareback.

Travelers will also learn everything about the majestic animals, from how they are raised from infancy by their mothers at the center’s nursery, to the steps that NGO ElefantAsia are taking to sustain Asia’s constantly at-risk elephant population.

There will also be the opportunity for travelers to take a one-hour walk with the enormous pachyderms as they go on their daily excursion through the surrounding jungle, as well as taking a trip to discover the footprint of Buddha, a revered site which is held as sacred by local Laotians. Backyard Travel’s tailored trip to the sanctuary also involves pick-up and return transfer by private vehicle.

“Elephants are valued as one of the world’s most majestic animals and this tour allows travelers to get up-close and personal with the enormous pachyderms,” said Backyard Travel’s General Manager Maeve Nolan. “This tour is not only inspirational and education in terms of informing travelers about how elephants live, but also the conservation efforts to sustain their population. The tour is a must for any nature lovers who crave interaction with the gentle giants of the animal kingdom.”
