The blanket has been taken off Myanmar, but it’s not yet at the forefront of people’s minds. We want to help get it there, because it’s one of the friendliest places on earth, with one of the richest cultures you’ll find anywhere.
Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) November 29, 2012
Between now and Jan. 20, 2013, the first 20 people to book ‘Luxurious Myanmar’ will go into a lottery for a 50-percent discount on the journey fee. Once the 20th booking is made, Backyard Travel will randomly select two winners.
“The blanket has been taken off Myanmar, but it’s not yet at the forefront of people’s minds,” said Maeve Nolan, Backyard Travel’s General Manager. “We want to help get it there, because it’s one of the friendliest places on earth, with one of the richest cultures you’ll find anywhere.”
‘Luxurious Myanmar’ is a seven-day, six-night experience that includes horse-carriage rides, sunset cruises, wine-tasting sessions and stays at The Strand and Governor’s Residence, opulent, colonial-style hotels in Yangon that date to the turn of the last century and evoke a bygone era.
At half off, the tour is US $835 per person. The price excludes international airfare, three domestic flights and any activities not mentioned in the itinerary.
Myanmar began showing up on travelers’ radars almost two years ago, when 1991 Nobel Peace Prize recipient and Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi was relieved of a house-arrest sentence that spanned more than two decades. In January, the New York Times included Myanmar on its list of ‘45 Places to Go in 2012.’
Backyard Travel launched in June as a 21st Century solution to the traditional travel agent. Instead of setting up as a tour operator, fielding business from agencies as operators typically do, the Bangkok-based firm is reaching overseas to woo travelers from the get-go.
“The idea is to provide travelers with direct access to people who actually live in Asia full-time and are trained to handle all aspects of an itinerary’s development,” said Nolan, who has been working in the travel industry in Asia for more than a dozen years. “That's our M.O.”
If the total number of ‘Luxurious Myanmar’ bookings does not exceed 20 by Jan. 20, 2013, the lucky draw will be cancelled.
