Nashville, Tennessee (PRWEB) May 16, 2013
Delta Country Jam Music Festival organizers announced today that Billy Currington, the chart-topping, happy-go-lucky Georgia native, will headline the first night of the epic event at the Abbay and Leatherman Plantation in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi on October 4 and 5, 2013.
Currington will send the Friday night audience off with a smile after several rounds from his four spirited albums. His chart-toppers include his latest number one hit “Lay Me Down Easy”. He has six more number one hits, “Pretty Good At Drinkin’ Beer,” “That’s How Country Boys Roll,” “People Are Crazy,” “Don’t,” “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” and “Good Directions.” In all, he’s garnered an impressive ten Top 10 hits.
The title of Currington’s latest album, Enjoy Yourself, says it all. “That’s what I want people to think about doing when they hear my music,” he says. “I want them to have a good time.” And a good time is clearly what they’re having.
His multiple nominations include two 2010 Grammy nominations (Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song) for “People Are Crazy,” which also received nominations for Single and Song of the Year from the Academy of Country Music, as well as Single, Song and Video of the Year from the Country Music Association. He was honored with a 2006 nomination for Top New Male Vocalist at the ACMS, which followed 2005 ACM and CMA nominations for “Party For Two,” his duet with Shania Twain.
He proudly claimed the “Hottest Video of the Year” trophy at the fan-voted 2006 CMT Music Awards for “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right.” Entertainment Weekly has praised Currington’s effortless charm, while the Associated Press says, “With Enjoy Yourself, he zeros in on an easy-going soul vibe, a sound that brings out a likable quality in Currington’s Georgia-raised tenor.”
With a Friday night lineup including Billy Currington, Thompson Square, Jerrod Niemann and Josh Thompson DCJ music festival is starting off with a bang. Saturday's lineup features Tim McGraw and Brantley Gilbert (and more artist's to be announced soon) for a two-day event that's surely not to be forgotten.
