Chicago, Ill. (PRWEB) March 28, 2013

buildOn today announced that Misha Malyshev, CEO of Chicago-headquartered Teza Technologies, has joined buildOn’s Global Leadership Council. buildOn is a non-profit organization active in Chicago area schools, working to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education.

Misha was invited to join the council after many years of supporting buildOn’s growing Afterschool Service Programs in some of Chicago’s neediest schools, in addition to being involved in buildOn’s School Construction Program in developing countries across the globe. In December of 2012, Misha led Teza Technologies’ support of buildOn’s Breaking the Cycle Campaign. Through a $100,000 matching gift grant from Teza Technologies, the campaign raised $235,000 to support buildOn’s Afterschool Service Programs in under-resourced Chicago Public High Schools, and to build three schools in Malawi, Africa.

“I admire Misha’s dedication to the belief that everyone deserves a quality education,” said buildOn CEO and Founder, Jim Ziolkowksi. “His commitment to empowering students in Chicago and across the globe is inspiring. We at buildOn are honored to have his support.”

“In 2011, 94% of buildOn students not only graduated from high school, but went on to college. I’m honored to join an organization that has helped so many kids in Chicago and around the world find success through education and community service,” added Misha.

Misha is the CEO and founder of Teza Technologies, a Chicago-headquartered firm that utilizes technology and quantitative tools to trade in a broad range asset classes and markets globally. Before founding Teza Technologies, he spent seven years at Citadel Investment Group, L.L.C. Misha has also conducted scientific research for Bell Labs and worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. He earned his Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Princeton University in 1998 and also holds degrees of M.S. in Theoretical Physics and B.S. summa cum laude in Physics and Mathematics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

Misha joins other prominent Chicago business leaders in supporting buildOn’s efforts in Chicago and around the world, including: Peter Ricker, Chairman & CEO of MB Real Estate, who also sits on buildOn’s Global Leadership Council, and Jim Reynolds, Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Loop Capital, who is a member of buildOn’s National Governing Board.
