The Maricopa Community Colleges Division of Business Services has been honored with an Outstanding Business Officer award by the Community College Business Officers organization (CCBO). The award, honoring Associate Vice Chancellor Gaye Murphy, was announced at CCBO’s annual international conference earlier this week.
Each year, CCBO highlights individuals who demonstrate exceptional organizational strategy, resource and financial management, communication, collaboration, community college advocacy and professionalism.
Debra Thompson, Vice Chancellor for Business Services, said, “We are proud to have Ms. Murphy on our team. She keeps a watchful eye on our daily operations and continues our long tradition of business excellence and prudent use of public funds.” CCBO honored Ms. Thompson with its Outstanding Chief Business Officer award in 2009.
“I am honored to receive this award on behalf of the Maricopa Community Colleges,” said Associate Vice Chancellor Gaye Murphy. “So much of what I do is only possible because of the entire budget office staff and our leader Vice Chancellor Debra Thompson.”
Ms. Murphy holds a Masters a Degree in Pubic Administration from the Martin School of Public Administration at the University of Kentucky. She was Assistant Budget Director for Arizona State University for 15 years before coming to the Maricopa community colleges in
January 2005. She has worked in the area of higher education finance for over 30 years.
