It is an important part of our job to inspire and help families to choose a good camping holiday destination.
London, England (PRWEB UK) 11 December 2012
The Vendee, amongst UK families, is possibly one of the most well–known areas of France and a very popular destination for camping. It’s also the home of the Vendee Globe, an around-the-world in a yacht race that takes place every year and starts and finishes at the chic Les Sables d’Olonne resort.
The French department on the Atlantic coast is said to have its own micro-climate which gives it as many hours of sunshine as its mediterranean rival, the Cote d’Azur. Resorts such as St Jean de Monts, Jard-sur-Mer, Bretignolles-sur-Mer and Tranche-sur-Mer are perfect spots for families looking for campsites in the Vendee.
The top 5 list was introduced by Will Goodridge, founder of I Spy Camping. 'It is an important part of our job to inspire and help families to choose a good camping holiday destination. This list gives everyone, new and seasoned campers, an idea of where to go next summer.'
1. Le Clarys Plage
The toughest decision to make at four-star Le Clarys Plage is whether to spend your days by the fantastic pool complex ̶ with indoor and outdoor pools, slides and spa baths ̶ or head to the excellent nearby Vendee beaches – the closest is only 300 metres away.
2. La Foret
For a majestic camping experience head to La Forêt, a small Vendeen campsite in the grounds of a 19th century chateau. There are pools either side of the grand house, three lakes for fishing and a long sandy beach accessed via a pine forest trail from the site. Plush Les Sables d’Olonne, has a long beach, bustling seafront and chic shops which have earned the town the nickname of ‘mini Nice’.
3. Les Genets
This 5-star site, featuring the iconic tippee, is amongst the very best in the Vendee. With its close proximity to sandy beaches and the seaside resort of St Jean des Monts, this campsite offers a great location for a summer holiday.
4. Le Bois Dormant
This excellent 4-star campsite near to St Jean de Monts offers families a perfect getaway. It is quieter than its sister site across the road, but still manages to punch above it’s weight in the entertainment stakes. It’s huge pool complex and wide pine-fringed avenues are a particular favourite with children.
5. Camping Acapulco
At just 700m from a lovely sandy beach, this 5-star campsite offers a location perfect for families. The main attraction within the site is definitely the pool complex, children and adults alike, has 3 swimming pools and 5 waterslides. Amongst other important service the site offers Wifi, bike hire and a restaurant. With the popular resort of Saint Jean de Monts close by there is plenty to do for everyone.
