HP, Dell, and Lenovo are focusing on Chinese consumers to make up for revenue declines in other countries.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 03, 2013

Revenue for the Computer Manufacturing industry in China has been growing at an annualized rate of 7.7% in the five years through 2013 to an estimated $236.5 billion, says IBISWorld. China has become the computer production base for the world. It is also the largest market for computer products.

The top four industry participants account for over half of total industry revenue, says IBISWorld. The industry concentration level increased slightly in recent years, in spite of intensifying competition, as computer brand owners, such as IBM, Apple, and HP, increased the number of their suppliers to minimize output risks and to gain pricing advantages.

IBISWorld anticipates that the concentration level will remain relatively stable in the future. As computer manufacturing becomes highly commoditized, it will allow smaller players to increase market share at the expense of larger manufacturing companies. However, these larger players will continue to expand their capabilities and attempt to protect their market share through acquisitions.

The Chinese domestic market holds great potential for the Computer Manufacturing industry, and due to the slow recovery of the global economy, industry giants like HP, Dell, and Lenovo have been focusing on Chinese consumers to make up for revenue declines in other countries. Low-end consumers in China are also growing in importance due to the higher competition levels in China's urban areas, says IBISWorld.
