San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 23, 2013

Over the five years through 2012, revenue for the Semiconductor Manufacturing industry in China grew an estimated 24.2% per year to $56.7 billion. International trade is very important to the industry with exports accounting for almost three-quarters of total revenue, says IBISWorld. Meanwhile, imports satisfy over half of domestic demand.

The Semiconductor Manufacturing industry has a low concentration level. This is due to the large number of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the industry as well as the diverse nature of the industry's products, says IBISWorld. Firms tend to focus on particular devices or markets and the majority of enterprises manufacture single products. Only a few of the larger firms like Panasonic, Leshan Radio Company Ltd., and Infineon Technologies, are able to manufacture a wide variety of semiconductor device products.

In the next five years, the main drivers of industry growth will be steady increases in overall demand, gradual growth in demand from downstream domestic industries and increasing demand for the industry's exports. The main markets for semiconductor devices will remain the computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing industries and the network communications industries. In addition to these markets, however, there will be new fields of application, including lighting, industrial automation, meters, medical electrons, automobile electrons and displays, says IBISWorld.
